While there is no single method that guarantees a movement, those God uses to initiate them consistently manifest the same set of traits and competencies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1503\" data-end=\"1766\">If we sat down in a coffee shop with catalytic leaders from rural Kenya, an American city, an Indian metropolis, and an Indonesian island, we would find all four remarkably alike in their essential character\u2014even allowing for cultural and personality differences.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1768\" data-end=\"1864\">So, when we ask <em data-start=\"1784\" data-end=\"1808\">what starts a movement<\/em>, we first need to examine the kind of leader behind it.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1871\" data-end=\"1907\">Digging Deeper into the Research<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1909\" data-end=\"2267\">To answer that question, Emanuel Prinz and his team conducted a comprehensive review of movement and leadership literature, along with empirical research. They started with 31 key sources\u201414 focused on apostolic and movement leadership, and 17 drawn from over 600 studies on secular leadership. From these, they identified 228 unique traits and competencies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2269\" data-end=\"2518\">They narrowed the list to just 24 traits that appeared in at least three different works. Then, using surveys of effective movement catalysts worldwide, they compared these qualities between leaders who had catalyzed movements and those who had not.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2520\" data-end=\"2564\">The traits fell into three distinct domains:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Personality domain:<\/strong> traits related to individual personality and character.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Spiritual domain:<\/strong> traits and competencies of a spiritual nature, having to do with one\u2019s relationship with God.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Social Influence domain:<\/strong> traits and competencies having to do with relating with others, describing social behavior and ways to influence others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wherever movements are happening, leaders marked by these traits are leading the way.
